For those of you who have experienced first hand how an estate sale works, this can be a very emotional process. I stumbled upon this article during one of my 4AM wake up calls and couldn’t fall back asleep, so I decided to indulge in what it had to say.

I was expecting this to be written about the client’s experience of selling their items - which is ABSOLUTELY a sentimental journey. But this one discussed the business of selling someone’s items from the seller’s perspective. Apparently as sellers, we have “easy access to ‘the holy grail of marketing,’” which is the ability to appeal to someone’s memories as a way to increase the salability of an item. This article gives tips on how to encourage a customer to engage with memories of an item, which in turn could help make a sale.
